Our Story

Be Fitness began in 2007 when founder Christina Anderson transformed her lifelong passion for movement into a space for authentic self-expression. 

Christina began dancing at the age of five in the Canton Ballet and earned a B.A. in Studio Art and Dance. Throughout her life she has traveled worldwide to study forms of dance and movement: flamenco in Spain, Afro-Haitian dance in Haiti, Afro-Brazilian dance in San Francisco, and Iyengar yoga in Austin. 

Following years as a performance artist and pole dancer, she opened Be Fitness as a supportive space for people to get into their bodies and feel comfortable with physical self-expression. At the time, Be Fitness was the only pole dance fitness studio in the Cleveland area and one of few in the world.Over nearly 20 years since its opening, what started as a pole dance studio has evolved into a collective of movement studios across Cleveland, Rocky River, and Lakewood offering Pilates, Pole, Aerial, Yoga, Barre, and more. We believe that the quality of the individual’s experience is the most important element at Be Fitness.
